Swiftech MCR320 position

Does it matter how I position my Swiftech MCR320. Like if I place it with the tubing on the bottom in the upward position, would it slow down the circulation since it has to push water upwards into the radiator? Or is it better to place the radiator sidewise...

On another note, my Swiftech MCP655 pump has these big inlet/outlet ports, how the h*ll am I suppse to connect my iTube9 tubing to it which is 3/8" ID?!?

You won't be able to hook it up to 3/8 tubing, it's a 1/2 barb pump. You either need to buy 1/2 barbs for your blocks and radiator or a pump with 3/8 barbs.

I got barbs for the radiator 1/4 to 3/8

As for the pump I was told to dip my tubing in hot water in order to get them onto the pump ports. Did not try it yet...

Orientation of radiator has no impact on flow or performance. There is no right or wrong way up etc.
3/8" hose over a D5's ports will take some doing... good luck! (It IS doable, but is very frustrating)

If you ask me, this whole water cooling business is a hassle lol...

I'll try it out once I get home...

Well I had the Reserator1 setup runing for 2 years now. Decided to upgrade the pump which lead to the radiator add-on. So now it is really 2nd level but as you mentioned I'll make sure to do it right so that I can let it run without having to fix here and there all the time.

I just hope my 3/8 tube fits on the 1/2 pump ports or else more fittings to buy meaning searching for a place that sells them here in Canada and then more money to spend :)

I got the fittings for the radiator and everything else is connected, so its just the pump and this setup is ready to go.

I'm running 3/8" ID tygon on my D5 with 1/2" OD barbs; had to put them in boiling water and then squeeze them on right away using some antifreeze as a lubricant. But it CAN work if you try hard enough. But your solution looks okay as well.

One thing about the OP about rad orientation. You'll find that some of the air will collect in the top of the rad when you are bleeding if the rad is upside down. would affect performance a little. That happened to me when I had a 120.2 rad on the back of my rig upside down. One day I tipped it back to add a little water to the front res, and a huge amount of air "farted" out of the rad outlet! So you might want to tip it horozontal every now and then to get the air out. Bonus if your res is set up so you can just tip the whole rig, but you have to make sure your pump won't suck air. That's bad.

BTW, isn't the Reserator made out of Alu? If so, you really need to make sure you have a great corrosion inhibitor in there (or just take it out of the loop completely).

I use WaterWetter mixed with disstilled water.

I wanted to get Fluid-XP but that thing is EXPENSIVE! Since I got a 2.5L tank I need like 3 bottles of 32oz so it comes up to like 100$ of fluid lol. By the way, does someone know its longevity? If its like 5 yrs without changing it then maybe its worth it...

Water Wetter does not inhibit corrosion. Fluid XP is worthless. What you want in a mixed metal loop is distilled water and Pentosin (available from Petras).

Ok so where can I buy this Pentosin G11 and how much do I need for a 2.5 litre setup? Some talk about PT Nuke?? What is that and where can I get that from (if I really need it)?

Turbo, where are you? I think Pentosin is the stock coolant for VW, Porsche, etc. Maybe you can find some if you need a lot. I forgot the ratio, but it's way less than 1/2; maybe even as low as 1/10. Do a search in the forums for it.

Petra's sells it to make it convenient to get in small quantities. You don't have to buy it from them though.

I am in Canada,

so 1:9 means:
I got 2.5 litre = 84.50 oz
so 84.50/10 = 8.45 oz of Pentosin = 3 bottles of 4 oz...

They got them for a good price I guess 4.50$ a bottle and the canadian dollar is equal somewhat to the US dollar so not too bad :)

I also need to find a nice dye to go along with it since I heard it doesn't do a great job in that department...

can't find an online store who has it here in Canada :(

Sux...

jab-tech ships to Canada. I'm a Canadian and do all my ordering from them.

Now, about the reserator... are you actually plugging it in, or just having it free-stand to aid in cooling?

If there's no connection between the case and the reserator (and the reserator aint plugged in) Galvanic corrosion won't be an issue between that and any copper pieces in the loop. What I would worry about would be the aluminum in the waterblock.

The Reserator is plugged and used as the water tank. I removed the pump that was inside of it. So it is connected with the water tubing but there is no electrical components in it since the pump is no longer inside of it.

Will I be charged duty fees?

If you ship with USPS (not UPS) and the package is less than 20$, there will be no duty fees.

And yeah, since you're not using the reserator in any way, other than a passively cooled reservoir... As long as it doesn't touch the case in any way, don't worry about it corroding anything.

I am wondering if I should get extra dye to make the blue really stand...cuz I need like 3 bottles of the Pentosin so I duno if i'll be over 20$ :|

plus 16$ shipping I believe :)

Wierd I sent both jab-tech and petrastechshop an email in order to receive more info on the shippment process to Canada and I have yet to get a single reply.
