Swiftech Apogee XT review

Are those machined using a .001" thick saw-blade? It can't be more than .002" wide. I can imagine how much fun it would be to machine that material with tools that small. Do you use coolant or cut dry?

No shit! i should of known better specially after realizing gabe has been cooking the numbers to favor his own blocks

That's a pretty strong statement. Can you back up your assertion?

Just look at his website for testing he has done in his own labs of the XT beating the HK 3.0 by ~2C. yet in reality it performs on Par with the HK LT i don't know how he sees those numbers.

Swiftech makes crappy junk, i've had 2 GTZ backplates failed on me and didn't bother to get a 3rd one. I had to use another backplate from some 3rd party heatsink that happanened to have m3 screws. Yes great support but doesn't help since they keep sending you junk like what happened to Andy C.

Do i care about the inexistent support of HK 3.0? sure i do but hey the block is quality machined from a forged block of copper instead of some cheap cast blank from china then trying to market it like the big boys.

I will have no problem paying $50 for the XT but $80 is a joke at best. Then here comes Gabe from swiftech saying "oh as long as it passes our QC is good to go since it shouldn't affect temps" and we see shitty bases and missing screws. What a joke of QC and who is Gabe to tell me if i should be satisfied with my purchase or not.

I understand your frustration, and I am really sorry for your bad experience; I would simply like to clairfy some misconception I have seen floating around: the HK is not a forged block, it is "merely" CNC'd just like ours. As to CNC work, it has no nationality. The milling machines are the same, whether they are in Germany, US, or China: most are made either in Japan or in Taiwan! the operators and the designers are the guys who make a difference.

It would appear that third party test results as well as user experience are validating our claims. Do you still think that we doctored our data?

You know, for an individual to make the kind of statements that you are making, it's actually easy. You hide behind your anonymity and throw mud at a Company with no respect for the work and lives of it's people and their families. On the other hand, we as a Company are mostly transparent, and we have to justify of our actions and representations to the public. If you now consider that we have been in business for 10 years, do you really believe that we would have lasted that long if made a habit of lying to our customers? There is no need for you to respond. My intention is not to create controversy, merely to give you something to think about.

Gabriel,

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately I decided to install another block I had sitting in my draw even though I could not use compression fittings on the block. Reason being I had the time set aside for that weekend to take on that project. My job as a practicing doctor does not allow a lot of free time to wait for a screw to arrive in the mail. This machine I built is my pride and joy, and did not want to risk the possibility of getting a leak from poor quality control. I mean if it came missing a screw what else is probably missing. Not to say I won't use it in the future. I'm building a HTPC AMD based and if I can figure out to mount it with an adapter I'll use it as mine is 1366. Looks real pretty though....

Thanks.

Anyone know if the Apogee XT is AMD AM3 compatible? Is there an adapter mounting bracket available?

Thanks.
