Anyone ever have this happen?

So I was just sitting around, writing my term paper. Suddenly, MBM gave me an alert and my system speaker went off like crazy. I looked at the system tray, saw my proc temp as 93 C (a super spike from 42 C). So I shut down, and open the case to make sure the heatsink didn't fall off (though it'd be hard not to notice, it's a Zalman 7000 AlCu).

Now it's running at 42 C idle again... Just weird.
