With the JavaOne conference under way, C|Net has a huge collection of coverage and articles spanning a myriad of Java topics.

With its JavaOne conference under way, Sun aims to capitalize on the growing interest in so-called rich Internet applications.

I don't have Java installed and I won't install it. I thought web applets were dead and buried a long time ago.

Sun can slap a new coat of paint on their heavy runtime but it's still the same old concept. Flash is lightweight and cross-platform. And it looks like Silverlight will also be lightweight.

It is kind of hard to fathom how a technology developed a decade ago still takes about 5-10 seconds to startup on a C2D 3.0ghz + 2GB RAM

Java does need a defibrillator, that's for sure. I cringe at the fact that I still have to use a couple of JVM applets at work.
