Summer heat

It must be summer, finally.

The A/C unit in the computer room wouldn't cool any more and blew the breaker for half my boxen, it had over heated from plugged vents.

luckily it happened friday and I got home an hour after it happened, I don't work in town any more, could of lost alot of folding time, new job is great but I work out of a truck and at remote dairies repairing all of their equipment.

the breaker wouldn't reset so I used the one for the stove,
Had to order Pizza for dinner, . . . . . . . .like I wasn't planning on it anyway :)

Replaced the breaker with the correct size (should of done that when I added the boxen) bought a new A/C unit and built new filters to keep the Cotton Wood Fluff out of the exchanger, The back yard looked like it had snowed, it is really bad this year.

It was so plugged up that I will have to take it to work to blow it out, my small compressor can't do it, the 185 PSI at work should, if not then the steam cleaner will. I love having real tools available. We even have a Plasma cutter, and a large pile of scrap materials to build cool things out of. Custom cases for the boxen, and cool racks to put them in :D

My AC has been on 24/7/365 since I started folding. Sounds like you work in the vacinity of a FAB shop. I'd love to get my hands on one of our Lasers, but they won't let me near them. In fact the dipsh*t IT's won't let me near any computer in the building. They think I brought they're pathetic network down 5 or 6 times, but couldn't prove it. It wasn't me. Hacker bud crashed the silly network, every time they laid him off.

If you come up with any really cool (literally) projects post the designs, I can make anything out of steel. I can program all of the turret presses from home, and transfer them via floppy. The IT staff (morons) made sure that the feed boxen have no USB ports or CD drives, paranoid lot, huh  .

yeah it is summer.... sleeping downstairs tonight b/c roommate is gone and it is like 110 in my room with my AC running like no tom...

I'm in the Northeast US, and for a change its finally cooling down a bit, with low humidity! (THANK GOD). I basically just have to use the AC for sleeping, other then that, its ok. It sure beats a blizzard, :D.

Bring on the blizzard!!!!!

Here in east Tx its been 95+ with 60+humidity for months (8am and 85 right now :( ). My apartment AC can only keep it at 85 with my main rig folding. So I put my personal rig on hold till winter.

yeah 60% humidty sounds kind of nice...

we have been having higher 80's with 90-100% humidity with a few days in the 90's....

can't wait till my boxen is my heater for the winter tho:)

I've been pretty lucky so far this summer, by central Indiana terms, we've had a bit of a scorcher. Thankfully, I made some adjustments to where my boxen sit, and how the air is flowing about my small garden so even though its been alot warmer, the AC has been running less and the temps on the boxen have been lower.

I don't have the same issues as your guys at home, but at work....because the university is in power-saving mode, someone decided that killing all the AC to the basements of all the building (where all my labs are) would be a great idea. Came into one of them today, and it must be 40+ degrees celcius in there. Of course, the maintenance jocks that are in charge of flipping the almightly AC switch won't be available for another couple hours, so everyone in the lab gets to slowly boil... :(

A/C is a mans best friend! :D

The new A/C unit is working really well, it's keeping the 21 boxen in the computer room cool, the room temp is now only 79, friday evening it was 99 in here and only 92 outside, all those AMD's keep the house warm in the winter, but man I don't think they would last without the A/C in the summer . . . . . . . :D

I think the old unit if I can make it work right after cleaning, will go into the spare bedroom, incase Dad's next checkup show's something again, that way if they do another surgery, that room will be able to be at what ever temp he wants.

keeping a room for him available after tumor removal's looks like something I will have to do for the rest of his life. I am just glad that the new Job pays a third more than the old one, so I can afford to do this.

heat man i live in so cal the capital of heat (except for maybe arizona;) ) last night it was 93 at 6 pm and i thought it was cooling down nice lol

Rockin' the Eastern Washington Desert here. High of 95ºF today, "but at least it's a dry heat." Thankfully, we keep our thermostat set to 73ºF, and in my basement it's 8ºF cooler than that, at least, and that's where my boxen are! (in a small room with a tiny, blocked window and tile-over-concrete floors... so long as the door is open that room stays well-chilled).

it isn't too terrible outside yet where i am (md - low/mid 90's i think) but inside... the A/C shuts off at night (central heating/cooling, turns off to save power or w/e when everyone else is sleeping)

when the a/c shuts off, my room gets really hot really fast. on the plus side, i don't really use a blanket anymore... less laundry. :p it may get over 100F, i'm not really sure. i'll have to keep a thermometer in here tonight, and report back.

it's really a problem because it shuts off around 11, and i shut off (myself, not my boxen) around 3.
mwhahaha

One of the Dairies I was at last week when it was around 97, the owner said " well the wind is blowing, so it won't get that hot." Southern Idaho is a dry heat, so the wind does chill it down a degree or two . . . . :D

Of course the only shade is in the cow barns, or under the trucks and equipment,

the temp during the hottest part of the day was 96, but the puter room stayed at around 80F and I turned the ceiling fan off now that the New A/C unit is working. It's a lot nicer sitting in front off the computer today than it was last week.

Pieced another boxen together and added 1.2 Ghz to my total, the case for it will be done tomorrow, when the paint dries. The board and stuff are sitting on my work bench and has turned in one QMD and is crunching another, should have two done before it is in the case. :)

Picked up the mobo for 30 bucks and had everything else so it was a good week end, even though it cost me a new A/C unit. that could of been another boxen, but keeping the others working is important.
