For now, I would say that it is a good looking AMD system. And the price on that 9800 Pro from the official ATI batch is impressive, nice find.

I don't know what else to tell you except you've picked out a nice system to keep him happy for at least a year or two.

Personally, depending on hard drive space preferences, I would also suggest the Western Digital 80 GB "Special Edition" with the 8 mb cache. It's a nice size and the performance is perfect for its price. No complaints from me and I have one.

If you also want to throw in a cheap DVD drive that'll play movies, I'd suggest an Artec 16x. However, do NOT purchase their CD-RW drives, as they are horrid. Bad experience with it. Stick to Lite-on for burning.

Looks good so far. Does he already have a PSU, case, HDD?

Good find on that card, BTW.

Perhaps my biggest question is that if he got the mentioned system, concerning the motherboard, what are the overclocking options on that board, i mean in the future if he wants to bump his FSB up to 400mhz, would that be easily possible with that board, as versus the NF7-S 2.0 (I have a 2.0 myself, and havnt bumped my fsb up yet, but i intend on doing it relatively soon) but i dont know anything about the way the standard NF7 board preforms, or handles overclocking.

And for the price difference.. (~40) i dont think i could convince him to goto a NF7-S 2.0

Any information about that boards overclocking would help out alot. Thanks again guys.
