I just bought an amd 64 3200 dtr that came with the stock amd fan for desktops!im guessing that wont keep the dtr cool since its not made for it!I heard the thermalright xp-90 is a good choice ,any other cheaper suggestions for a heatsink fan would be appreciated before i start puttin it all together!!thanx for helping out!

Ummm...DTR's are all originally meant for big heavy laptops but even then, the power output is usually less than the desktop components. Remember the AthlonXP mobiles? You might want to get a new cooler if you want something more efficient or something more quiet but the stock cooler should do fine.

im gona use the dtr for my new desktop !and the stock fan is for the regular amd 64 not for the dtr!

Please use some proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Your post is hurting my eyes.

hahaha my bad man!im just so used to the internet slang!didnt know it could hurt peoples eyes and stuff!

So you bought a "desktop replacement" Laptop (that's what a DTR is) and you got a processor that came with the fan for a desktop?

Or did you buy a "mobile processor" One that would fit into a laptop, but you're using it as a desktop processor.

I'm really confused. Please, try again.

"Or did you buy a "mobile processor" One that would fit into a laptop, but you're using it as a desktop processor." thats wat im going 2 do!i have a mobo that supports the amd dtr processor!i bought the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu LED for it!my question was if the regular amd 64 stock fan would keep the dtr cool!

You are aware that the Zalman has its own fan, yes? If you're going to use the Zalman that you already bought, then just toss the stock cooler in the closet. Like Arcygenical said, the stock AMD64 cooler that came with your DTR would do just as fine, but considering you already bought something better....

k thanx!and i didnt get a stock cooler with the dtr!i bought this from a guy and he had the stock cooler for the desktop amd 64 processors which he just gave 2 me!i think it leaves a gap between the hsf and the processor therefore ill just wait for the zalman!
