whats the best i can do in the sub-800 category, i dont know a whole lot about camcorders, but i know a bit.

preferably if you could reccomend me something you could get at best buy (yes i know best buy sucks, but i'm not paying for it, so i'll take that route).

thanks a bunch, please discuss, i want to get to know more, just never had the oppurtunity to get one before (cost as an issue) so i never bothered to research it much.

Here's one:

Panasonic PV-GS150 It's $665

It has 3 CCD chips to capture the image. It's way better than a 1 chip camera. I have the Panasonic GS200 and I love it.

Soon, the GS300 is coming out soon. It has optical image stabilization, which is really awesome in a camera of this price. And it looks to be the same price at the GS150. I'd wait to see in Best Buy gets the GS300 in stock!

These are MiniDV camcorders, which means they use tape. But, they are for superior to DVD camcorders. It's much easier to edit video on your computer with tape. Plus image qaulity is better with tape, and these Panasonic camcorders have the 3 chips which increase quality too.

that looks really nice, i think that might be the way to go, its also seems like a decent package for holding and working with.

what resolution video is 2.3mp?

That megapixel rating refers to the still image resolution. It has nothing to do with video. Most modern camcorders take still pictures as well. But they suck. Ignore it!

My camcorder is the same size. It's tiny! But it fits great in your hands. They sure pack a lot of quality in such a tiny package.

2006 models are about to come out. I'd check the website of the camera you want to see the dates of the releases of updated models. The 2005 models willl drop in price a good bit.
