Hi Guys,

I have this paste laying around and I was wondering if I can use it on CPU/GPU/RAMSINKS/VR...etc... I cannot figure it out if it is electrically conductive or not thermal paste. Can some plz tell me on what components I can use this paste? Also is it much worst than AS5 or MX2?

TIA :D

Thermalcote™ is a superior thermal joint compound of thermally-loaded silicone-based grease for use with all heat sinks. It improves the transfer of thermal energy across the metal-to-metal interfaces between the transistor or rectifier case and the heat sink.

Thermalcote conducts heat approximately 15 times better than air and more than 4 times better than unloaded silicone grease. It is non-toxic, extremely stable, and neither cakes nor runs from -40° to 204°C (-40°F to 399°F).

Part number 251 and 251G are RoHS compliant. The "G" was added to the part number to signify RoHS compliance, but no difference exists between the two.
Color Opaque White
Operating Temperature Range -40°C to 204°C (-40°F to 399°F).
Thermal Conductivity 0.765Wm-1°C-1 (.226 Btu/hr ft °F
Dialectic strength 1.27 mm gap(.050" gap) 11.8 x 103volts/mm (300volts/mil)
Specific gravity 1.6
Evaporation, 24 hours@200°C (392°F), wt% 1

It doesn't sound conductive.Sounds like its just silicone grease. No metal flakes or anything.

Based on the specs and descriptions, it looks like you'd be perfectly safe using that stuff.

If I did the math right it's about 11 times worse than AS5 thermally.
