So trying out photoshop on the mac for the first time I noticed when the program loads theres no sort of background. As in the menu bars and title bars show up but in the middle of the screen I see the other windows I'm working on. How do I get some sort of background to show up? In windows there's a background by default.

Thanks

bump? i'm still wondering. Anyone? I just need a canvas to work on. Its really distracting trying to edit a file being able to see the desktop behind it

I'll look at the G5 at work tomorrow but IIRC that's just the way CS is on Mac; there is no gray background, just the toolbars and menus at the top. The desktop or any open windows are still visible even though Ps is the active program.

Is there a way to add the gray background? I don't think there is. I just maximized any files I opened up to compensate.

Photoshop differs on the Mac; there is no "window" like on the PC with a large gray backdrop - simply the files you have open.

I'm unaware however, if there is an option to enable/disable this.

Sigh... that's really annoying. Some things on OSX are just plain dumb.

Thanks for the info.
