Hi,

What would be the recommended software to stress test a newly built PC to make sure that it's stable?

I'd like to stress test:
- The CPU
- Check the memory (memtest?)
- The GPU

And also, for how long do I run these tests?

Thanks!

what are the specs of your rig?

run that 20-50 times.
(you cant really multitask while running this stress test because it uses all available memory)

run that one for 24 hours if possible. on all tests.

that will stress the hell out of your video card. i wouldnt recommend running it for long periods of time. its a great way to check overclocks and temps. most normal games wont stress the card as much, so if its stable in furmark it should be stable in games.

ive found running prime95 and furmark at the same time as being a great overall system stress test. its a great way of finding the max temps and check for stability of your system.

temperature monitoring program, if you dont have one already.

Core i7 930
G.Skill Ripjaws 2000Mhz 6GB DDR3
Radeon HD5850

That FurMark bench looks pretty hardcore... how long should I run it for?

nice rig. i have the 4gb set of those ripjaws. :D

i usually try not to run that furmark program more than an hour. it usually takes less time than that to see if the video card is stable or not. it maxes out the temps fairly quickly.
