Streaming Question

HI all,

So my mother in law wants to throw the Korean shows she streams off the internet onto her bedroom tv. In the living room she accomplishes this by running a long dvi cord from her iMac to her television, adding it as an additional display. Her bedroom is on another floor though from her computer.

Here are the two solutions I'm looking at:

1 - Trading her iMac with her daughter's Macbook, pairing that with an Apple TV hooked up to her bedroom television.

2 - First part same as above, but swap $100 Apple TV for the $35 Google Chromecast. As long as she is streaming her show in the Chrome browser she should be able to view on her television right?

Those are the two ideas, any insights, comments, opinions would be much appreciated.

Unless the Imac is really really old. Is there any reason you cannot use the mirror function on your Imac and stream to the Apple TV wirelessly? or even use Power over Ethernet to connect the two devices.

How is she currently navigating? that would be the main issue. Unless, it's a constant stream and she just leaves it there.
