strangest overclocking problem

I have an Asrock extreme4 gen3 and an i5 2500k. I had it overclocked to 4.7 GHz and all was fine. Stable and temps didn't go over 71C with prime95 blend.
I restarted my computer and suddenly it wouldn't even boot bios. I cleared CMOS and I found that if I put my OC of 4.7 back it would repeat the problem. I tried changing the multiplier to 45 instead but my motherboard now automatically sets it to 37. I can put it at anything 37 and under but if I do 38 or higher it sets itself to 37 right there in the bios. If I use the cheater auto over clock method where it sets everything for you including the all core speed it will boot fine even at 4ghz. Anyone know what's happening?


Edit: I had the CPU at 4.7 GHz for months by the way.
