Strange video card problem...

Ok so I bought one of those $309 Dell servers and don't have the tools or the time to mod the PCI-Express slot to fit this spare x300 I have. So I bought a PCI Geforce4 440MX. Cheap card but it is better than what comes with the computer.

Anyhow, it works great before it loads into windows. Letting the computer start, iot shows the WindowsXP starting screen fine. But once it brings up the log on prompt the screen gets all of these lines in it and looks all screwed up.

So then I rebooted into safe mode and it worked fine. I unloaded the drivers and restarted. Same problem on log on.

I then restarted and booted into VGA enabled mode. It booted fine. I reinstalled the drivers, and then went and downloaded the latest nvidia drivers. Install went fine. Before shutting down I set the resolution to the resolution I would normally have it set at and set the refresh rate. It worked perfectly.

So I restart and let it boot normally. Screwed up display again....
I restart in VGA mode again and it works fine even after I change the resolution.

So I have gone and reseated the card, reinstaled drivers, checked the VGA cable, etc.

So any ideas?

(if I could have a built a 2.8 p4, 512mb ddr2, and 80gb sata hd for 309 I would have instead of buying this junk box, but hey it was a good deal)

I have ideas.

Just not about your situation.

Sorry.

I have this great idea for a new style of headphones for example. I just can't tell anyone until I get me a patent!

Heh, smartass :D

I guess next time I'll be sure to ask "Any ideas about my problem?"

Good luck on your headphones.
