Strange problem with catalyst 4.9

I run my Ut2004 on max detail @ 1152x864 with aa on 4x and af on 8x. I also run it under the direct x9 render.

I just upgraded from 4.7 to 4.9 and i see a little difference. I probably get 2 or 3 fps boost on UT2004, nothing major.

Something strange now... i was testing these new drivers on deck 17 and everything was fine. After 5 minutes, i looked at the shield, and it had all white and black bits on it. Then i looked at my weapon and that had bits in it to. So i exited to the main menu and the whole screen had black and white dots all over it.

So i reloaded UT2004, played UT for a few minutes, and then this problem happened again, bits on the weapons, when you shoot for example a flak shell at the floor, instead of getting smoke, i get bits of black and white.

Here is a screenshot of what i mean.... look at the flak its got all bits on it.

Now when i get these little bits, if i alt tab out and then go back into the game, the bits are completely gone.

What is going on here?!

I havent overclocked my gfx card, my card is 2 months old, never ever had this problem until a few hours ago i installed the 4.9 drivers for my 9800pro.

I have yet to install Cat 4.9 just for this reason. Little bugs that people are having with them. I think I would just install 4.8's for now until they get things ironed out.

I've yet to try UT2K4, but I have noticed FarCry has gotten extremely dark for me. I can barely see shit.

Looks like some of the weirdness you get when you overclock the memory too much.I have seen cases where one driver doesn't work as well with an OC as another would.

I'd remove the 4.9's and install the 4.8's. Those were pretty solid.

Refresh rates work fine for me. Set them to "use DDC info" and "same as desktop". When I do that, it remembers my refresh rates preferred for both 1280x960 and 1024x768.
As for the bug, I have no idea. I've seen stuff like that happen with overclocking videocards (TNT2 for example). I'm thinking maybe the new drivers push more power into the card in some way and maybe your case airflow or dust on the gpu is causing this.
