well i went into drive manager in device manager and for some reason 10gb or free space showed up next to a 7 gb partition on my one 12gb drive .... i partitioned this part and formatted it, while trying to xfer some files to this logical drive....... it got a blue screen and restarted.... now xp wont load, its getting blue screens and has restart on blue screen as default :/ o well im making a new boot disc and gonna try to delete the new partition and see if that fixes things.... brb

very confusing

1st its disk management, not device manager or disk manager :p

2nd the "freespace" that you partitioned and formatted, what did it used to be?

sorry it came up as free space or unused space or something. IM not sure why it did, in any event i used my xp disk to fix the installation. things are working good again, ill take a screeny of the disk management when i get home, at school now.
