with a good amount of fan in a case how high could I take one of these up to? I mean if it can take higher end chips I'de imagine it could handle a e4300 at 3.0-3.2 couldn't it?

i highly doubt it.

My E6600 runs just fine at 3.2 with a stock cooler..it loads at 44c and idles at 35c.....

the stock cooler is pretty good as long as you don't go crazy with the volts....

That seems pretty low Crosshairs... what is the ambient temp in your house and what program are you using to measure the temps?

well looking at comparisons between the stock cooler and some other $30 coolers in reviews theres barely much of a difference that I'm sure they can improve with good case cooling/ air flow

I've been running the Intel cooler for many months now at 3400 MHz. It gets a little warm up over 70C running Orthos but for gaming it's usually around 55C.

Very stable system and not really worth investing in a fancy cooler so I can overclock another 100 MHz.

My ambient is always around 65..I'm in the mountains of PA, and we have some nice weather...Plus my system is downstairs where its always nice and cool..:)
I'm using TAT to measure the temps...also MBM, the temps are about 1-2 degrees apart on the different programs

EDIT: I run FAH on this and thats what I consider loaded...maybe Orthos heats it up more, cant say as I never used it...

I have an E4300 that I run 3.0 GHz. I could go higher, but my ambient temps here during the summer in Phoenix will get a bit warmer.

Right now with an ambient temp of 26C.

When running Orthos, I get 70C from CoreTemp and 55C from Speedfan. Who knows what to really believe. But either way, temps in gaming are well below that.
