steam games in safe mode??

does anyone know how to lunch steam games in safe mode? what i mean by safe mode is 640 x480? i run games in higher resolutions, but i went to a friends house to play on his dlp tv. the tv native resolutions is 1280 x 720, and i normally play games in 12 x 10. so every time i loaded the game it would be out of range. so is there a safe mode for steam games?

Try editing the registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\Settings.

Or, you can try adding -w 1280 -h 720 under "Set launch options" in a game's properties window.
