Someone has given me the idea to take the 2 front panels that surround the drive bays off and attach a tinted plexiglass in its place. Behind the plexiglass would be a light tube. Does anybody know how i could accomplish something like this?
 
Uhh... exactly as you said it. :p ;)

You won't get many freebees like your asking for, it takes a little effort and inquisitive nature on your part to get many people interested.

Sounds plausible enough, cold cathodes are very thin (~1/8" dia) if you get them out of their acrylic tubes you typically find them in.

Start by basically seeing how to take the case apart, well, atleast the front. See how you can get those two front panels off, and how you could get new ones to mount. If they must be cut out of the case, so be it. Take some pics of any progress if you can, then people will be sure to pipe in. By the time you get that far, you will probably have answered all your questions anyway.

One issue I see is getting pieces of plexi that long and narrow to not flex and break easily. Gluing the plexi down the edges may work, who knows, I don't have a stacker. Ive just got enough experience to say if you can rationally see it working it is probably possible somehow. And if you mess up, there is always room for a fix. Even if it takes you down a different path.
