So keep hearing about SSD for laptops and all that jazz, anyone have any clue when SSD is going to start coming out for desktops?(and yes i know theres that i-ram card) They got 60GB SSD out for laptops, soo with a desktop would think they would at least double that, but haven't heard anything at all. If anyone knows any release dates or word about it please post.

You can use laptop sata drives just fine. Check out PQI's offering if you're interested. About a thousand bucks for 16 gigs.

They should be coming out soon. Also expect the price to take a major dump when it hits mass markets such as desktops.

I am thinking that SSDs could be a big hit with enterprise customers. From my very limited understanding, it seems that most enterprise desktops need very little local HDD space, since the important stuff is stored on ``the server'' anyway. Usually, smaller HDDs within a family perform worse than their larger counterparts, yet have a higher price/ GB. Using a small SSD in an enterprise desktop would reduce boot times, power consumption, heat and noise.

What do you guys think?

I agree with drizzt. Few users shut down their computers because of the boot times. If you run a SSD, its quite a bit quicker to boot. Power savings ++
