Im currently running a 120G Vertex3 for my main system/apps drive. I keep all my games and storage files on a spinning 1TB drive. Would adding a 30G SSD cache drive to the system help with games/files that are not on the System SSD? Would it slow down the System SSD at all since it would cache that drive too or can i turn off the cache feature for that drive and have it cache only the spinning drive? If this has already been discussed, could you link me the thread..

I'm interested to know - how do you set up a SSD cache?
I have a similar query - what is your experience with having games running on HDD and OS Running on the SSD? Is this the most ideal set up? Or would having OS on the HDD and games on the SSD be better? I don't have enough space on my SSD to install games - which is why I'm asking.

I am using Solaris 11 on a SSD. And I have a 2TB disk as storage. When I do heavy torrenting, I notice no lag at all. My girl friend is also logged in simultaneously (I use thin clients SunRay) and we both do work on the SSD, and I do heavy torrenting and copy files etc on the storage disk. I notice no lag at all. It is almost like I were the only user and the disk idle.
Earlier, I used only one 2TB disk, both as system disk and for torrents. When I copied a file, everything grinded to a halt. Both of us could not work while doing file I/O.

Yes.
This doesn't really make sense, as that isn't how SSD caching works. It isn't something you simply enable for the whole system. You setup an SSD as cache for one specific mechanical drive. Your cache SSD would never be caching anything from your system/boot SSD, only the mechanical drive that it is setup to cache.
