just finished building it and when i turn it on, fans spin and everything. just nothing happens on the screen. Theres no beeps or anything either. i suspect that the processor was damaged by fire. if the processor is fried, is it possible that it would be doing this? i would think that there would be some beeps. thanks
 
Were you smoking around your processor again? Not a good idea. ;)

Could be your processor is toast. Those symptoms are also the same as a dead motherboard and in my experience, they always seem to be more susceptible to ESD.

Things to ask yourself...
Did you handle the gold pins on the bottom of the processor?
Did you use Arctic Silver 5 or get AS5 on anything other than the core of the chip?
Did you fondle the motherboard's delicate circuitry? :)

Probably want to try reseating your RAM and using only one stick at a time. Do it a few times and make sure that one stick is locked in and seated solidly in the slot. RAM can be a b*tch sometimes.

yes, i know for a fact that there was some thermal paste on the pcb of the processor.. and no i wasnt using my processor as an ashtray haha. i found a gateway on the side of the road and it was obviously on fire at one point. the processor was just laying in the case but i figured id use it anyway cause its a P4.
