Splitting sshd primary partition.

I am thinking of reducing my primary boot partition down to 300GB from 1TB on Seagate 1tb Hybrid. This is for backup reason. The other 700 GB would be file storage etc. I want a smaller boot partition to restore if I need to. I use Macrium reflect to image my boot partitions. System specs are HP laptop DV6-6047cl, Sandy creek 2630qm I7, Intel 3000/Radeon HD 6770m (switchable graphics) 1TB SSHD seagate, 2TB seagate secondary drive in hdd caddy, 16GB corsair ram. Win 7 64bit. I would have 3 partitions when done. Question is will the SSHD nand work with 2 partitions?
