specific ratio needed for a good overclock?

I was talking to a friend of mine who overclocks alot, and he said that you needed a specific ratio between the ram and the gpu to attain the best performance when overclocking. how would I find the optimal ratio for my card? (other than adjusting the clock speed and bencmarking every time)

Definitely don't try overclocking with out testing out 3dgames first. Personally I don't change the ratio between RAM and the GPU. AFAIK it won't make a difference if you change the ratio.
