Do you want AMD or Intel or does it not matter? What do you plan on using it for?
 
AMD 64x2 or FX. this is going to be used for intensive gaming and movie watching. i am planning on taking it to college with me--thats why i am aiming at sff
 
I'm kind of in the same boat. I would go AMD Dual Core, with a 2k budget a FX60 would be over budget. Look at the X2 line. As for the system, if you want to build your own then look at the Qpack or the Silverstone case. If you want to just add memory, processory, and a graphics card then go with a Shuttle. Graphics card would depend on the processor you choose and if you're an nVidia or ATI fan.
 
For 2k you can easily get a opteron 165, 2GB pc4000 memory, biostar tforce, x1900xt, sg-01, and a good 500 watt psu
