I had to buy a new sound-card as my onboard audio died. I was hoping someone could tel me which settings I should choose for my ATH-AD900 headphones. I use the computer solely for playing games, mostly FPS (Bf3).

I don't know if I should use Dolby, scout mode, mess with the EQ etc.

Any help is appreciated

Well you need to play around with the settings to see if there is anything you really like but:

BF3 has some the best audio in gaming. So the most you want to do is to set it to hifi in game, headphones in the Z program and try that first.

The only other option I might use is SBX. Slide that around a bit to see if you find a sweet spot.

You may also want to buy an amp in the future. It will "wake up" those headphones. The Zx will sound fine but an amp really perks things up.

I was ready to type a response, but spaceman was on top of things as usual. I should buy him a beer sometime.

Great thanks. Any amp recommendations?

Google these. Any will do great around $100.

I've looked over them and have a question. If I were to go with the e9, how would I hook it up? Do I go from the headphone jack on the SBX to the line in of the e9? I ask this becasue the headphone jack is already amplified. I'm not sure how hooking an amp up to an amplified circuit would work.

Or do I hook it up to the front L/R line out, which I read isn't amplified.

Headphone out bc it does the effects. Doesn't matter much that it is amped but you probably want to set the windows volume to less than 100% if you hear any hiss.

Thanks for all of your help.

I actually returned my AD900's. I didn't like the way they fit. I guess I have a small child head.

I went with I ordered the beyerdynamic dt 990 pro 250 and e12 portable amp
