Having some trouble. BF3 online everything sounds fine except the voices sound really distant.

Using JVC HARX700 until i can get the coveted DT990s.

Here are my settings

Immediately when I played online i was doing even better.Ever since i got a second GPU i had to stop using my sound card (Xonar DG). Thankfully this one is a PCI so i can keep everything. Just cant figure out the voices.

Have you tried lowering the surround a lot and disabling Dialog Plus?

I found lowering the bass boost and crossover point helps with overall clarity. Mine is set to something around 25% and 25 hz now.

Also if you just run off SBX Studio, how do the voices sound?

I figured it out.

The surround slider was too high. Putting it back on the triangle solves it.

Is it really an improvement to use these enhancers? I just got the Z as well and have left all of this disabled, as is standard practice with most of these things. Is this the same as enabling CMSS3D or whatever it was called on the older cards?

With multiplayer games virtual surround gives me an advantage over those who don't have it. I love hearing people run around corners so I can shoot them :). But of course with music the features are useless and I turn them off.

I guess my question is, is this how you enable the Z version of "CMSS3D"?

I thought it was enabled automatically by default, because it sets my headphones to 5.1 speakers automatically in the windows control panel sound options, then I can select 5.1 surround inside games, and it sounds pretty good already... I turned the options you show off because I assumed they were enhancers that were not necessary and could possibly even be detrimental to the experience.

Yeah. I would just use the default surround level on the SBX pro and not touch the rest of the features. Less is more and with music you want it all off.

That would be it. You might also want to disable Dialogue Enhancer. I found it doesn't really add much and causes issues in games.

What headphones are you using? i can only select headphones here. but 5.1 on my speakers

Yes thats right, you DO select headphones there, but open up the control panel and then go to sound and see what the operating system thinks you have, as this is what is sent to games when you open the games sound options panel and it querys the control panel for your audio devices

Mine shows a 5.1 device, and if I test it and click on the speakers surrounding the image in 5.1 I can hear everything perfectly where it should be.

I always took this to mean the PC was actingike it has a 5.1 setup and using software magic for virtual surround in the headphones.
