Anyone have any clues where I could pick up some of those sound isolating mats except from Modding and Store shops? Those stores are way overpriced. Think I could find that stuff at Home Depot or something?

Yeah but the dynamit kits I found are ridiculously over-priced. Costs 20$ just to "isolate" a license plate.

shut yo mouth *SLAP* :D

Really, paint the case hot purple and line it with this stuff, and add some gold trim.

As a last resort you could try using cork board found at the office supplies section. It deadens high frequencies pretty well.

Forget all that. Just go to your local Lowes and pick up a roll of "Peel-n-Seal". Its used to seal roofing materials, but allot of people use it as sound dampening material in car stereo installations.

I was originally going to say that no matter what your not going to get the same performance as the official noise dampening lining for computers, but i thought it was around $100, and i just found this for $20 at frozenCPU(which is usually expensive). I personally find that cheap, but that may be because i was expecting $100+ price. I would add $9 for shipping and assume that for around $30 you could get the official stuff. doesn't sound bad to me. Is this the right stuff? or is there better stuff?

Another thing i would like to point out, is even the official stuff is going to raise the temps, so its not something that you get from going with your local hardware store.

Found this while Google-ing:

AcoustiPack? - "is a set of specially developed, high quality, acoustic materials that can be cut and fitted to the inside of any existing computer case to significantly reduce noise." A SilentPCReview: "The Deluxe AcoustiPack? by Acousti Products represents a thorough and effective approach to dampening materials for computer cases. The variety of damping materials supplied, and the various functions they perform, as well as the comprehensive information for the end-user -- all these bespeak of a carefully researched solution not evident in other damping products."

B-Quiet: "Have a noisy computer case?"

Power Snooze: "Frustration of PC noise lead to the development of Power Snooze and with the kit, we ensure that you get a selection of the best sound-damping products available."

Akasa Pax Mate is a sound insulating material designed specifically for PCs. Here is a review by WiperLair, and here is one by Atlanta OC.

Accumat is intended for sound insulation of cars, but can be used to line the inside of the PC case to dampen noise. It has an adhesive back making it easy to install. It doesn't have any odor.

Auralex Acoustics sells acoustic foam products that can be used to insulate PCs.

Dynamat is the producer of different sound insulating materials intended for cars, but sometimes suggested to use for noise dampening of PCs. A common complaint with Dynamat is an odor. It will disappear after some months use.
