We all enjoy music in different ways. I don't see how it's right to classify music listeners as "newbies" and experts. The process of listening to music can be as easy or complex as the user wants it to be. To judge one's intelligence based on how their listening style differs from yours is unfair and rather pointless.

I tried to leave this thread alone, but someone HAS to respond to this. It seems to me that you're the one that has be classifying listeners, not everone else...

Please, you're on an overclocking/hardware site and your best argument is to call someone a nerd?? I would MUCH rather be a nerd than a sheep... I suppose if I wanted to take your analogy to the next level, it could lead to images of unscrupulous farmers having their way with the sheep - which could be a euphamisism for what Apple is doing to certain customers.

You seem to get upset when someone says that Apple is offering "simplified" versions of what other companies already offer, but can you name one thing that an iPod offers that isn't offered by every other product out there? Other than a white case, inflated price, and the apple logo, of course, there's nothing.

Hahahahaha, the part about the girls made me smile. It's true. The vast majority of girls don't have a clue about technology in general. No wonder so many VCR's (and I guess DVD players now) in American homes holds flash the infamous 12:00 time for years on end hahaha.

I do agree, iRiver especially has more to offer for around the same price. I probably would never buy an Shuffle either. Even though I don't use my iPod's screen too much, I just wouldn't like it as much if you took the screen off it. It wouldn't be as fun to use any more. That's just my opinion, I can understand how other peoples couldn't give a feck about the screen I mean it IS the cheapest iPod around.

Third point, yes marketting definitely helps... a lot. Just having the iPod name and the Apple logo on the box it comes in will sell about half a million come Christmas time I bet haha. The general human consumer isn't very smart, and it's pretty easy to trick them into buying your product if you have a name as well known as iPod on it.
