Hi, I have a Sony 34XBR910 HDTV and I must say the picture is total crap. I have indoor antenna in the attic and runs down via coaxial cable to which i connect it to the VHF/UHF jack on the back of the TV. the picture is horrible, also the TV is about 1.5 ft from the refrigerador but in between it is a fully insalated wall. I thought it could be all the magents on the fridge and i pushed it away but its still crap. maybe i havent pushed it far enough. any suggestions, the picture is all fuzzy, snowy, detail is off on everything. any help is appreciated.

I dont understand why you're trying to display UHF signals on an HDTV.. You mentioned it being Snowy this seems more like an antenna issue rather than the TV?
How do DVDs or Videogames look on it? That would be a much better indicator of picture quality.

The XBR910 series are awesome sets, but occasionally a crap one makes it though quality control. Hook up a decent source (good DVD player or HD source) to it and view it that way, make sure your picture settings aren't all out of whack as well. If it still looks like junk do a return for another one, if not, well, it is your antennae set up.
i hooked it up to my gamecube and its pretty good except its not that sharp of a picture. also are there antennas where they have compenent hookups instead of coaxial. ide like to get a new one, any suggestions. because it the TV has a built in HD tuner but it needs compenent cables and all i got is coaxial. what do i do?

The set was designed first and foremost to reproduce HiDef pictures and at that its one of the best sets out there.
The result is, when you feed it a bad signal it reproduces that bad signal fantastically. A cheap TV on the same setup would probably look better.
Your antenna does not have component input, those are for a SAT Dish HD output or a Cable Box output as well as one for a DVD component output.
Unfortunately that particular model does not have a HiDef tuner built in, your coax inputs will accept only standard NTSC TV signals. For HiDef you will need a tuner of some sort, again I mention SAT or your Cable Company. Once you see HiDef on that set you will be stuck wanting more, trust me.
It goes back to the told GIGO theory, Garbage in, Garbage out.
Great TV you just need a better source.

Time Warner also has a half decent system as well.
Satellite is also an alternative but their channel selection in HD is very limited. Direct TV keeps promising but are slow to deliver. Dish has a very good system and will probably (my opinion) beat Direct TV with a better selection of programming.
Samsung makes a great off-air HD tuner for a very reasonable price assuming you have an outside antenna and a rotor.
