Some questions about FiiO E10.

I just got my hands on Fiio E10 and Audio technica M50s. Really love the combo. Now the question. I have a HTPC and the E10+M50 works fine as long as I listen to music and watch rips. Things change when I watch bluray titles. The E10 just gives a loud annoying sound and refuses to work. Any clue why that happens? So in order to get rid of this problem I was thinking of getting a 3.5mm extension cable to work directly with Asus Xonar DX's front panel headphone port. How long cable should I be looking at since long cables tend to degrade quality.

It's because that DAC can't decode Dolby Digital or DTS codecs. When you have the audio going through the FiiO go into the sound options in Windows for the FiiO DAC and untick DD and DTS if they're ticked and see if that reverts to stereo. If you use a 3.5mm cable from the front port you'll bypass using the FiiO DAC in the amp and instead be using the DAC of the Xonar DX.

Thanks. How long cable can I use with the DX to make sure quality doesnot suffer. I want to use the DAC of the DX instead of the E10 to watch blurays.

Anything under 30ft will probably be fine.

Thanks. It worked and 30 feet is good headroom. 15 feet would suffice. However thanks to you my E10 works fine now so no need of 3.5 mm extension
