[Solved] Premiere Elements 11 - delete transition

I've put a transition onto the end of a clip on one of my layers, but have now changed my mind and want to remove it. It seems to me that this should be really simple but can't for the life of me figure it out.

Google has been really unhelpful too. The closest that I've come is using either Control or Shift to select the transition and the Del key to delete it. However this also deletes the last second of my clip.

Is there a more effective way of removing a transition?

I think the delete key is supposed to be used for this task. I must have been doing something wrong (half a dozen times in a row!) I zoomed in on the timeline and was able to delete it quite easily.
