I'm new :) lol, like i needed to point that out. But hey, i'm not new to forums, so :p

Ok anyway... Weird stuff here, so i hope one of the techies can figure this out.
As always, if i leave any information that you want out, feel free to ask.

System:
Abit NF7-S 2.0
AMD 2500-Mobile @ 2206 MHz (so far ;)), 1.55 V (0.1 above stock) w/Coolermaster Aero 7+ @ 3600rpm (max)
ATi Radeon 8500LE 128
Corsair PC3200LL TwinX (dual-channel, slots 1 and 3)
2 CD-ROM drives
2 HDDs, 1 80, 1 160
Soundblaster Live! 5.1 (3 slots lower than AGP)
Ethernet Card (bottom slot)
Chen Ming full tower
450watt Enermax PSU with 2 fans
5 case fans: two rear, with one intake one outtake; 2 front, both intake; one side, intake. All at 2500rpm.
I have little plastic tubes covering my wires to help improve airflow and have tried to move them out of the way.
Ambient Room Temp: 21 C during the day; 18 C at night.

Ok, now on to the problem.

Sometimes, i like to shut down my computer at night. Sometimes, i leave it on.
When ever i boot it up in the morning, the temperature (using motherboard monitor) goes right up to 41/45 C (idle/load) with a case temp of 25 C. It's good, but not normal. If i were to restart the computer, not shut down, at this point... upon reboot, the temperature will be 36/41 C with a case temp of 23!! Nothing has changed, except the fact that i just restarted. Now, let's say i were to leave the computer on all night. The case temp would drop to 21 C and the CPU temp would stay at 34, all night. In the noon time, they'd go to their respectable temps of 36/41 and 23. Now say i shut down the computer at this point. I'd leave it for about 5 hours until it's slightly in the evening time. I'd turn it on, and get my weird temps of 41/45 and 25!!! Then, restart and it'd go BACK to 36/41 and 23!

WHAT IS GOING ON! MY BRAIN IS MELTING.

ANY reasonable answers are accepted!

Are you getting these readings in a program in windows or your bios or do you have some external temp monitor? If it is a Windows or bios the temp probes might be damages in some way or some software conflict but im not certian. (I doubt the probs are damaged)
 
I would say that the thermal monitoring system is flawed (you already know that). Get a thermal probe and check. A cheap DMM I have came with a thermal diode (pretty accurate too), and I poked around my case to check temps.

My Aerogate 2 should be here monday, so I'll be able to check my temps for real! :D
 
welcome to the world of ABIT and there thermal issues.....hehehe.. i have the same board and yes i somtimes get that to. but i never shut my machine down inless i am doing a upgrade or somthing...it just could be a ABIT NF7-S 2.0 issue. then again i donno if they fixed that...
 
I think those are normal ... when you start your machine ... there is a sudden draw of power ... the CPU heats up real quick ... but the heatsink won't be able to draw the heat all at once ... that's why some auto sensing fan will power up full blast, then settle down a bit ...

or at least that's how I understand it ... seen it with the Asus' also ...
 
I don't know why, but it seems like all motherboards that i've used or experienced any time with treat the bios as if the CPU is under 100% usage for hours...i was idling in windows on my new comp yesterday and when i rebooted it said 38Celsius. When i went into bios and just sat there it went up to like 48-50C (ambient is like 33C, though). But anyway, don't really rely on your BIOS readings i'd say, get something like MBM5 and idle in windows and see what it says.
 
I have never trusted the in socket thermal probe...Just tape a wired thermal probe as close to the core as possible, that would be as close to accurate as you can get within a $5 budget.

I'll post more results when i OC more, if they differ or not... i'm shooting for 2600-2700 :)
