Could someone recommend a Good Pentium 4 Motherboard (preferably abit) with the following features:

P4 HT ability 800mhz fsb
AGP 4x 8x
no onboard audio (have audigy)
no sata
no raid
onboard Ethernet is ok, not a requirement

The PC will be for a home gaming/business machine. Stability is a must.
Thanks!

The abit IC7-Max3 is the best intel board they make. I think you'll have a tough time finding boards without sata, on-board sound, etc. Why does that matter? You can just disable those features you do not want to use in the bios...

What you're looking for doesn't exist, as far as motherboards with an Intel chipset are concerned. Every one of the Intel chipset-based motherboards with AGP 8x capability already have built-in SATA and built-in integrated audio. And depending on the motherboard, the method of disabling those features may be either in the BIOS or by physical jumpers/DIP switches on the board itself. A few motherboards provide no way at all whatsoever of disabling those features - avoid those boards.

And these days, every one of the desktop motherboards already have integrated audio. The few P4-based motherboards that support AGP 8x but lack integrated SATA that existed were those with a VIA or SiS chipset - and those specific boards may not support HT or the 800MHz FSB.

You're talking INTEL so I strongly recommend an INTEL board , D875PBLK Bonanza.Stability ranks first.

About SATA, sound and so on..just pretend you don't see them.Every decent board has them.

Do not buy Abit for bussiness. They are very prone to fail...this is due to their excessive tweaking to allow huge OCs.

I share this opinion. If you are not going to overclock, meaning the thing HAS to work (you're serious about using it and not messing around), Intel board + Intel chipset + quality dual channel memory.

The Intel board mentioned (also in my sig) does have sata and raid- you don't have to use them, it's a chipset level thing. It does not have sound, which is a definite plus for stability (one less thing on the PCI bus). It's integrated ethernet is the best you can buy in the mainstream, buit by Intel and attached to the northbridge and NOT on the pci bus.

As for the comment on Abit, well, I have my own peaves for not using them, I have owned several in the past, and have never been completely happy, as happy as I am with this Intel board.

my vote goes for the d875bz also. been using one for a year now. i would recommend getting version 302 with fmb 1.5. if you go this route.

For no overclocking and a business rig.. I agree 100% to go with an intel board, with good high quality ram (Crucial is my choice)

Be wary with the D875PBZLK. Intel has made *several* revisions to the board to deal with boot problems and memory timings, especially with low latency stuff. The older revisions (205/206) are troublesome while the newer 301/302's are proving to be much more lenient.

Vendors usually have no idea which board they are selling. I ordered a board from zipzoomfly.com recently and it was a 205. I'm not even gonna try it, I am returning it and getting another from a vendor which differentiates the revisions better (newegg).

Id take a Vmodded IS7 anyday over a IC7 max3. IC7-g's are on sale @ newegg, I think for $125. Mem volts up to 2.8.

The Max 3 has higher mem voltage, but Not stable voltage above 2.8.

I paid over $200 for that board when it first came out. I sold it 2 days later in a customers rig and put my IS7 back in. It was more stable @ high volts.

I've used a lot of Stock intel boards in customers computers, to keep them and me out of trouble so they cant Overclock intels, Cept for a little now with their newer 875's.

Solid as a rock. Prices are right and they dont cut corners on capacitors and parts.

Stability == Intel branded boards. Period. There is no better failsafe.
