if i wanted to make a baybus/fanbus, would a thirty watt soldering iron be ok? also, what kind of solder do i need? i saw some stuff w/ like a rosin core or somethin like that, so waddo i need to get?

rosin core is what almost everything is. Most comon stuff is 60/40. You can also get solder with silver in it which is specifically for electronics and thats 62/36/2 or something similar. Either or will work just fine. As long as you dont get something goofy like plumbing solder or something.

Also, a 30W iron will be fine. Tin the wires first so it take heat better and you don't heat up leds and switch too much.
