Dual core support/ PCI-E SLI/ SATA II
Performance comparison, it might match a Prescott EE, i can't say though. But since the Dual Core prescotts where rushed out so i don't know if that was a good thing, i dunno if its worth going to L775. I'm have a Albatron PCI-E/S478 in transit for my 3.0E system. If i was to get another socket, it would be S939 or wait for the M2, and i'm a Intel f-a-n-b-o-y
BTW, i heard that L775 only has another year of life in it till they change again

LGA775 has been around a year already. So if it changes again in a year, that will be two years. Not bad compared to all the socket changes AMD has had lately.
On another note, it isn't so much that LGA775 is better. From a performance standpoint, sockets aren't better exactly. A LGA775 CPU and socket 478 CPU perform the same if both boards have the same chipset. LGA775 has some advantages though in that the LGA775 motherboards have newer features, PCI-Express being a key feature. Plus LGA775 was necessary for dual core support.

thats life with wants and needs, i have 3 cars (1 for sale) tons of bills and barely can afford computer parts as it is. I'm 23
I'm just keeping what i have now, i ordered the S478/PCI-E motherboard so if they get discontinued i will have one, and eventually save up to get a 7800GT or GTX if the price is right. DAMN X-MAS

Sorry, but you are wrong. The performance you can get from a PCI-E solution are FAR better now than anything AGP can bring to the table. I am not speaking of AGP's weaknesses or design, but rather what is available in PCI-E vs. AGP.
Games like Quake 4, FEAR and others can certainly NOT be run at max resolution and detail with AA and AF on a single X850XT-PE or a single 6800Ultra. Sorry, but it isn't the case.

AGP is basically all I can really afford to get.
We aren't talking about what people can afford. The fact is that AGP can bring two things to performance for a gaming machine that AGP can not. SLi/Crossfire and cards that are made exclusively for the PCI-E bus.
That doesn't mean AGP is crap. Or that AGP versions of these cards couldn't be made. Simply put, all design and technological concerns aside, PCI-E is better because ATi and nVidia are choosing to provide better product support for PCI-E rather than legacy AGP systems in the high end market segment.

Only 89$ and you do need a 20 to 24pin adapter (can pick one up on the net for as little as 4$) if you run more IDE drives then probably need a IDE PCI card or some SATA to IDE cables.
You could pick up the Asrock motherboard for 60$ but i haven't heard as many good things about it as the Albatron board.
So i figure 95$ on the MB and if i want i could pick up a 6800GS for 200$ and still come out for less than 300$ which most 6800Ultra AGP cards cost alone. I'm gonna be saving for the 7800GT though. By then the 8xxx series with DX10 support will probably be out and i can start saving for those, yay!
AGP isn't crap, just look around at pricing of a AGP card vs. PCI-E card w/ motherboard, you'd be suprised what you can find and will be future proofing for atleast awhile. I'm figuring that the 7800GT has atleast 2-3 years in it compared to a 6800U/GS

If you want them to be nice go for an X1800XL.

I just ordered that same s478/PCIe Albatron (& 7800GT). Damn UPS bastards screwed up and didn't deliver the mobo today on schedule like it was supposed to! So I received my shiney new 7800GT all dressed up with no place to go!
I wish Newegg's default shipping was still FedEx. They were almost always on time and boxes were in good condition with nothing to worry about.
With UPS its a coin toss. About 50/50.... 50% of time good service / 50% of the time the outside box is damaged, or late or whatever!
I ordered both the same day, but 7800GT shipped from Memphis and was on time today. And the mobo shipped from Cali, and MAYBE I'll get it Friday now.

I ordered my Albatron board on saturday, it shipped on monday from CA and i didn't recieve mine yet, I live up in ohio, and the board shows its about 30miles from me. So i figure it should be here tomarrow. When you recieve your goods, please let know what you think of everything!!

I don't think you understand the card specs. The 12 pipe 6800 or the 6600 is slower than the 16 pipe X800XL. nVidia was my first choice as well.
