There are reasons out there for why people don't like BTX, but this shouldn't be one of them. Do you realize that ATX is an Intel-created spec? Look at http://www.formfactors.org, read one of the specifications--any of them--and you'll see that they all are set by Intel. You could say that it would then be "proprietary," but when you see that the vast majority of x86 computers follow this spec, I think you'll have to come up with a better reason to hate BTX.
