A couple of days ago, my old Dell 2000FP died. Turned it on, but nothing appeared though of the leds would light up.

A symbol of one of the first and best 20" LCD screens - mighty cheap back in the day too at $800 when dell would run special sales. It was my first and best LCD screen. Crystal clear text, no visible ghosting on images (at least to me), and finally a use for my DVI port. I loved it so much, I even went without food for a month so I could purchase its brother and run dual screens.
RIP my friend.... October 2002 to February 2005. :(

A moment of silence.......But moving on, these things come with a 3 year warrenty! Enough mourning. So after two phone calls to Dell, 3 tech agents, and an hour later my screen gets a final resting place and I get a reincarnation of a 2001FP!!!! woohoo. Free model upgrade shipped next day.

So it says refurbished on the box...but I can't see anything wrong with it. No dead pixels or backlighting problems either. The warrenty only goes to the original life of my first screen (so I have 6 months left). My only complaint is that now my dual screens don't match. :( But I guess I can't complain

Yah, I may hate Dell and their tech support....but after it's all said and done, you can get pretty good stuff out of them if you're patient. Now if only my other screen would mysteriously die.......... :p

Hope that happens to my 2001FP in 3-4 years :) DELLs latest is probably pretty sweet by then :p I upgraded my warranty to 5 years too so Im hopeful (dunno if its possible to do that on any DELL site but I ordered thru a friend at DELL and its in their ordersystem, costs like 10$ more so ofcourse I got it)
