Ok,

I'm seriously considering buying a Viewsonic VX922 from NewEgg tonight or tomorrow. I am extremely sensitive to slow LCDs. I tried playing BF2, Oblivion etc. on my wife's VA912b (8ms) and cannot take the smearing/motion blur in the games. This is with a FAST vid card and DVI connection. It kills my eyes trying to play these games. As I said my eyes are very sensitive and I'm used to playing on my 21" CRT, but love how crystal clear the LCD is on surfing/text/desktop etc. I REALLY want an LCD.

So, my question is, if I purchase the VX922 and find it to be too slow for my eyes, can I return it? Will they charge a healthy restocking fee?

Please help!

Also, do you think if I wait 4-5 months, will they be able to have any 20.1" LCDs as fast as the VX922?

well, there is a 20.1 inch monitor in that same family, called VX2025. so same specs, only bigger. there is 45 pages worth of info on it here

but this has perked my interest. im about to buy a gaming LCD, first one i will have owned, and if it is as blurry as the ones iv bought for some of my (non-gaming) customers, then perhalps ill stick with my good old rayathon (name of the tube that produces pixels on a CRT) Samsung Syncmaster 955DF

the VX2025 is 8ms, I honestly would find a nice size tube (IBM P275m or P260) and get that from ebay for $100 with a 21" Viewable.

EDIT: Newegg would charge a restocking fee. HOWEVER. All LCD stuff is done through the manufacture.

^^Not looking for a widescreen. And yeah, the VX2025 is a lot slower (on paper.)

Anybody ever try to return an LCD to Newegg for performance reasons?

I have returned a veiewera lcd to the egg and had the restocking fee waived after ordering the VX922. They will give you a hard time about it, however if you keep up in your persuasiveness they will give you a full refund. It's written in ther FAQ's page that if you return an item for a similiar item they waive the restocking fee. You just have to proove that's what your doing. It took a couple of emails back and forth, but they actually did it. What's nice about the 922 is that it has exceptionally controlled overdrive.

If any of you guys order the VX922, let us know. I'm interested in getting it as well, but I, too, am afraid of the ghosting.

does anyone know an LCD for dummies page? cuz i really know nothing of lcds other then then foggyness (ghosting?) and backlight bleeding. some of you lcd people are speaking a foreign language to me....

I bought a vx922 a month ago. Zero complaints, it freaking rocks. 0 Ghosting and looks incredible. 5/5 stars IMO.

Absolutely no motion blur or smearing? Spinning around the forest in Oblivion?

I play quake3 on mine and yes there is blurring on some maps. Like maps with some serious detailed textures it blurrs a little if you want it too. If your rocket jumping into a strafe jump down some hallway it blurrs to your far right and left sides, but your center view stays clear and crisp.. I think even crt's do that if you looked for it. Also on some maps if you have to adjust to an enemy to your extreme left or right, they sometimes seam almost 1 and a half times wider. It only happens like that on maybe half the maps available for the game. On games like UT and BF2 there is no noticable ghosting or blurring. I'm telling you this is the closest thing right now to crt performance you can get in LCD form. I returned that 8ms viewera because to me it ghosted and blurred too much. I am picky about this topic and would recommend any competetive player this monitor. It's that good for an LCD. Colors are nice and bright. The only drawback to this panel is that fact that it doesn't playback dvd's all that good. You don't buy a ferrari and expect it to ride like a cadilac do you? Just my two cents.
