ok ive been running folding for a while but i think i can optimize my setup, right now im just running two command line clients, one per core. now recently read i can run just one SMP client to do even more work, but my question is can i also run a GPU client with the SMP? i know the GPU uses some processing power as well but does even more work still.

what would be the most efficient setup with this:
core2 e6600
2x 1900xts in crossfire
(should i disable crossfire? does it matter? should/can i run 2 GPU clients vs one GPU and one CPU... vs one GPU and one SMP?)
 
Just run SMP and skip the GPU client altogether for maximum points/science


 
You can run an SMP client with a GPU client but ...........

Its no longer set and forget.
What you have to do is manualy set each client's affinity to one core each time its starts/restart a protien.
Depending on the speed of both your CPU & GPU, then it might give you ~200PpD more.
Also if you do this make sure that the SMP client is still be able to turn in the results before the first deadline, otherwise its a loss of sience to Stanford as that SMP work unit is sent out again for someone else to crunch.

Twin GPU clients need crossfire disabled to run.
Also running twin GPU clients slows them both down by ~15% compared to just running a single client.

Best setup for you to run "setup & forget" is probably the plain SMP console client.
