SMP client randomly stops functioning.

Ok I downloaded and am using the SMP client for my C2D T5500 laptop, It works fine and it runs. but every so often (every 10-15% completed) it will go from 100% to 0% cpu (as in it will stop running), but the client itself doesnt freeze out, it just stops doing the work, only way to get going again is to quit out, and reload the unit where the same thing happens again. And downloading a new unit didn't fix it.
 
This will happen each time a network connection drop or get reset (IP renewal or just unplug/replug to move it elsewhere). Each time it happen, it will just lose the 4 Fahcore_A1.exe but the client will still remain active, thus the stalling.

If you want it to fold nonstop, try to avoid messing with the network since the client will rely on the network stack for the threads interconnections.

Thank you, that explains it, since the wireless on my laptop keeps kicking on and off.

Does that mean I CANNOT run an SMP system off the net?

You can. The only requirement is a working tcp/ip stack.

Just unplug, start the SMP client then it will run fine. Also, if you run Vista, the SMP client will be much more robust against network hiccups.
