Has anyone else been getting instability in the SMP client?

No, I'm running it as fah.exe in the console.

This is the same work unit that I closed the client on and restarted my computer and reopened. I know that the progress isn't saved when closing the client, that's why I did it as soon as I got started on the work unit instead of in the middle of it.
 
I had the same problem yesterday, but in Vista. Finished exactly one WU (the 1760 that I turned in), and then kept erroring out when it tried to start #2. I'd suspect either a bad WU circulating, or maybe a bad build of the SMP source.

I gave up in any case, now running VM+Linux x2.

is a permission error... either you didn't run the install.bat as an admin (use the run as admin) or use the explorer (run as admin) and navigate to the folder and install it again -*** Nevermind this is for Vista only but it's still a permission error

then u should not have any problem getting it to run. This this and let me know.
 
Apart from the odd bad WU, mine have been running solid since it was first released.

With any errors bar the b7 one, I would first look at your network connection.
Are you wireless or wired ?
Try running the Install.bat again and see if that helps.

Ps. The progress is saved after every frame.

Jon855 hit right in the nail. It's a permission issue.

 
Can I do Start->Logoff->Switch User and have the SMP client running?

I haven't been able to get that to work with the SMP client running just as a console, if you run as a service, it will usually work.
 
That's not good. I have to lock the screen on this computer when I leave. And I can't have it running as a service since I do need the processing power for other tasks.

It's annoying how buggy this client is...

You know that the SMP Client will give back the processing power for other tasks, SMP runs as idle cycles so whatever you do it'll uses up the idle cycles so don't worry.
 
But there is more than a 10% decrease is processor performance with the client running.
