I was wanting to know if you guys have a better suggestion for a [H]ardware firewall over Smoothwall?

Well first consider is the price, if you have a extra PC just laying around and a few spare nics smoothwall would be perfect. It is easy to setup, and easy to monitor and use. If you just want to run out and get a firewall, you will end up spending money.

Most have an easier time setting up Smoothwall and IPCop but there is also mOnOwall.

I like IP Cop. It is pretty much the same as Smoothwall though.

I don't know how handy you are with *nix, but you could setup a box with linux or *BSD to be a pretty nice firewall...or you could just use some of the standalone distros below...I have not tried every single one, nor have I updated this list in a while, but hey just try them out and see what you like best
