I have some drives on an Areca controller that are occasonally going to the "Device Failed" state, then requiring the array to be rebuilt when the system is restarted.
I'm thinking that the problem is a flakey power connection, but I want to confirm my diagnosis.
If I use the BIOS for the RIAD card, I can see the SMART information for one of the suspect drives:
The Areca documentation doesn't say much; it just says that I can use the menus to access the data, and shows a screenshot.
How do I interpret this information? What do the numbers mean? In what unit do they report? Is higher better? What do the numbers in parenthesis mean?
