Okay so I have a question, I have a HTPC in my living room. It is running out of space, so i decided to go a head an build a another Server Type pc dedicated for my HTPC. Thinking about 4x500gb=2tb, so my question is there any case that's small enough to handle 4 drives. All i see is cases that handle 2 drives, i prefer the height to be as high as Antec Fusion when it sits flat. Could some one help find what case to look for. Also any good mobo recommendation. I have an AsRock which i think is really good mobo, also about networking do you think i should connect it via Ethernet port to my other computer for good performance. Or are there any other options. Again i want a case to sit almost side by side w/my htpc.
 
Well keep in mind that most SFF cases have 1 x 3.5" external, 2 x 3.5" internal & 2 x 5.25" external. If you're not using a floppy you can fit another HDD in the external 3.5" bay and just leave the cover on. Additionally you can get 5.25" to 3.5" adapters so you could possibly go all the way up to 5 HDDs, so long as you don't use any optical drives. ;)
 
After looking at the Antec Fusion, you may have a tough time finding something that is that short & can hold, a power supply, motherboard & 4 hard drives.

You may want to look into ~replacing~ your current HTPC case for one that is slightly bigger and has more slots. This is probably more efficient power wise as well.

SILVERSTONE LC20-B has 6 internal 3.5" slots, 1 external 3.5" & 2 external 5.25". It's about 1" taller than the Fusion, but it's slightly smaller width-wise.
 
Either that or build a backend system and have it loud and proud. In other words keep your valuable data cool and safe.

Then just build a quiet frontend to go with it.
 
I agree with Asgorath. Who cares how loud the little monster is, as long as everything is nice and cool. Just get some case to hold the hard drives you want (with room for expansion) and hide it somewhere out of the way.
