Slow SSH login?

I've got two slackware 9.1 boxes that used to function perfectly, but now when I SSH into them, logging in takes forever. Once I have logged in, everything seems perfectly responsive. Any ideas what this is?

It's trying to reverse DNS your IP address. You can turn that off in the sshd config file.

Other services can do that as well. A local DNS server or entries in your hosts file solves the problem.

ssh is the only service running....

that usedns option, set to no, did the trick. Thanks!
