Problem: my computer takes a long time to start up. The holdup seems to be between entering my password, and when the desktop appears.
Background: My OS (Win 7, 64 bit) is installed on the Intel 80GB SSD, and various larger files (like the steam folder) are stored on other drives and hardlinked to the correct locations on the SSD. When I got the SSD from NewEgg, I flashed the newest firmware at the time (2CV102HD) and then installed Windows 7, so the drive should be aligned and all that. At first, the drive was really fast, but over time, it has gotten quite a bit slower. It now takes 15-20 seconds to get to the desktop where before it was under a second to the desktop. I have tried running the Intel SSD optimizer tool, but it did not help.
How does one go about troubleshooting this type of problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
