I got an Asus A8V mobo which have onboard Promise Fasttrak Raid controller.

I put my 2 Seagate 120gigs on the Raid controller but Sandra is only reporting 44mb/s

It's a fresh install of XPpro as i just put this computer together.

On my old A7N8X with ACARD Raid controller card i got 89mb/s using the same disks.

Anyone know what could be wrong ? 44mb/s seems awfully slow, i could do that on an ordinary IDE channel.

Sandra is not very reliable. Check HW manager to see if you may have had UDMA levels dropped substantially below drive capabilities. Do you have latest drivers from MB manufacturer? May need to disconnect the drives, boot, reconnect drives, reboot, let system detect them anew. Windows will drop transfer modes after 6 cumulative perceived CRC check errors. If you're system boots really fast, or you have several drives, It will experience disk spinup surge, and can misinterpret as Drive errors.

Gotta move my RAID card, after it finishes this video for my brother.System already degraded to UDMA2 transfer mode using UDMA6 drives. Man, I can't wait to get my Netcell card back in. Need more juice, sytem marginal with 5 raptors on a 550 watt PSU, overclocked only slightly :)

Try HDTach 3.0 freeware version, system may not be as slow as you think.
