SLK 900A Temps??

Ok I recently installed a SLK 900A heatsink to cool my XP 2700. Now I haven't installed a tornado on it, just an Antec Fan rated at 33 cfm that I bought from best buy. My computer runs fairly quiet with just a soft hum from the 5 80 mm fans, and a 120 mm fan that is inside the case blowing cool air onto my vid card.

Now my question is wether or not my temps seem normal.

Ambient Temp: 65 F 18.33 C

Case Temp Idle: 77F 25 C Diff = 12F 7C
CPU Temp Idle: 95F 35C DIff = 30F 16.66C

Case Temp Load: 86F 30C Diff = 21F 11.66C
CPU Temp Load: 118F 48C Diff = 53F 29.66C

Note this is using a 80mm*25mm Antec fan mounted on a SLK 900A. Temps taken using MBM5 and load temps while priming turture test #2. Also one of my 80mm exhaust fans has been running consistenly slow for some reason (I think it is dieing, and I have already purchased a new one). Also I used the thermal compound that came with the heatsink.

Are those temps ok?? What can I do to improve them??

Thx

I usually run about 8-10C over ambient at idle. However my CPU temp will be the same as my mobo temp if it's been idling for a while. Under load the CPU will go up about another 6-8C while the case only goes up 2-3C. The fan on the HS is a 36 CFM 92x25mm papst. Artic Silver 5 was used in my installation and I lapped the 900A. I only have the one case fan that came w/ my Sonata and the power supply fan.

Your split b/w the CPU and mobo seems a bit high.

You may want to verify that you have good contact between the HS and the core and that there's the correct amount of thermal compound. Arctic Silver's website has a good installation how-to. Did you clean the core and the HS prior to installation?

It sounds like there is plenty of air circulation in the case.

If I were you, I'd take it off, clean it up and try again. Maybe with some AS5.

Any other opinions?

Yeah I am going to reado the install, but I can't right now. My friend has some AS5 that he is going to let me borrow b/c newegg has been out of it for some time now. After I do that I will see if it helps.

I was also wondering wouldnt an 80mm fan work better on this heatsink than a 92 because of the way it is shaped the 92 mm fan would overlap the heatsink too much. My 80mm fan overlaps the heatsink so a lot of the air blows off to the side of it.

Is there anyway of getting the fan to blow more directly onto the heatsink, maybe by moving it over and having at least one half of the fan completely on the heatsink while the other half hangs over??

I can see your point. If you had a 92mm and an 80mm fan with the same cfm rating, the 80mm fan would push more air through the actual heatsink. Personally, I was looking for a quiet system and that's why I went with the 92mm.
