I have an ultra x-connect modular 500W PS (38 amps on the 12). Will I be ok with running 2 7900GTs\3500 venice\2HDs\1 optical????????? Just wondering if anyone has done it. I just ordered the board so Im curious! Thanks guys.

You'll probaby tax that PSU with those two cards. You don't even have two PCI-e connectors, do you?

You can give it a shot, but if you see the 12V drop below 11.4V, shop for a new PSU. ;)

That PSU is a total POS & should be rated at about 350W. :(

I dont think so, but you can order the cables from ultra as they include them now. Well lets cross our fingers.

They don't "include them now." That's a totally different PSU. The X2 (aka the X2-Connect) has two PCI-e connectors and is SLI and Crossfire certified. You have an old X-Connect from two years ago. They make a FlexForce upgrade kit that lets you switch out to the new FlexForce cables, but even Ultra realizes that SLI is not necessarily a good idea w/ that PSU as they only provide ONE power connector for your video card.

You'll need to use a Molex to PCI-e adapter and that's going to add resistance and drop voltage even more, which is why I said you could try it, but if you see voltages drop to 11.4V or lower, don't hesitate to buy a new PSU.

Well,
taking it all into consideration ill have 50 set aside in case I need to buy the thermaltake 5.25 vga power supply with 2 pcx connectors. I think that would resolve any issues. (and make my rig 100 lbs)

That would absolutely, positively solve any potential issues AND costs less than a decent PSU of equal output.
